This dinnerware was founded in 1884 by famous Portuguese cartoonist/artist Bordallo Pinheiro.
The tale behind his most recognizable tableware is that he designed and gifted a cabbage centerpiece to a “bourgeois” Parisian housewife he fancied. While meant as a joke, his ceramic green cabbageware eventually became highly coveted, receiving gold medal awards in exhibitions across the world including Paris, Madrid, and St. Louis. The cabbage is a symbol of a rural & simple life. This setting can be used all year round for casual or formal events.
